A.A.T.G AND G.P.S PROPOSED TO SIGN M.O.U

The Action Aid the Gambia in partnership with the Gambia Prison Service recently proposed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding at the prison Headquarters conference hall.

The proposed signing is based on soliciting support to the prison Health-Care Unit on the side of Promoting Health Education, and Voluntary Counselling of our inmates in observance of HIV/AIDs related diseases, healthcare, under conducive environment, to boast our health constraints and challenges, through a power point presentation lead by Mr. Yusupha Jabang (BSc in medicine)and head of GPS Medical Unit at mile II central prison clinic.

During his presentation, there were correction and observation along the line, to authenticate the document in a modernized form to attract partners and agencies in complementing government efforts to achieve health excellence in our prison environment and even beyond.

Amendments of MOU should be based on combine efforts for the combine intended purpose for both sides.

According to Mam Kumba Ndow Sise Project Manager at Action Aid The Gambia said prisons targets were not part of the funding, but confirm assurance in support of the initiatives with GPS. She further said respect for each other's values and dignity as human beings, as enshrined in the MOU is of great importance.

In his remarks, Acting Director General of prison Mr. Modou Jarju commended the Action Aid The Gambia for honoring our call, to collaborate in the interest of soliciting support to our healthcare unit. and added that it will facilitate the smooth running of the clinic and modernized the health of the prisons healthcare system.

The meeting was chaired by the Director of Admin. Mr Yankuba Saidy and other senior management official were presents.
