The Gambia Prison Services recently inaugurated a 65-seat capacity bus at the Mile 2 Headquarters in Banjul. This milestone is aimed at addressing the long-standing mobility challenges faced by prison officers. The procurement of the bus was made possible through a strategic partnership between the Director General of the Gambia Prison Services and the Gambia Cooperative Credit Union (GPCCU), in collaboration with A&A Motors Company Limited.
The bus is expected to significantly improve the efficiency of the prison services, ensuring that officers can be transported to various locations more reliably and safely. The procurement aligns with the broader goals of improving working conditions for prison staff and enhancing the overall functionality of the prison services.
The official handover ceremony was attended by key stakeholders, including representatives from the Office of the National Security Adviser, the Ministry of Interior, the GPCCU Manager, and senior officials from the Gambia Prison Services. The atmosphere during the event was filled with joy and pride, as attendees celebrated this important achievement, recognizing it as a step toward enhancing operational capacity and staff welfare within the Gambia Prison Services.
