A team from the National Leprosy and Tuberculosis Control Program conducted a visit to the State Prisons to evaluate measures for controlling communicable diseases among inmates. The assessment focused on existing health services and areas for improvement in disease prevention and management.
The team discussed the proposal to construct a dedicated disease control unit at the Prison to support prevention and treatment efforts. The shortage of medical doctors at Mile 2 Prison was also noted, with plans in progress to deploy additional practitioners through a formal memorandum.
The visit concluded with agreement on the need to strengthen health services within the correctional facility to ensure effective management of communicable diseases.
